La Durée is true space music. Just close your eyes and let yourself drifting away from this Earth into the vastness of space and time.

In 2014, I released La Durée on Soundcloud. This was a thick carpet of sound that quickly became my most commented-on track and also my most popular track on that forum. There was something about the track that resonated with a wide audience.

The initial track was slightly above 12 minutes. Then in 2018 I made an extended version which was just below 20 minutes. This extended version remained an unreleased track lingering on my harddisk for too long... Until today.

Early in 2024 I decided to remix and remaster the extended version and to release it to the world in full resolution. This means that the sound is crystal clear and that many of the details of the different elements are now revealed. (This of course pertains to the downloads you get when you buy the album on Bandcamp. The streaming quality of Bandcamp unfortunately is lower and may yield sonic artefacts.)

Still, the 2014 version also had a warm fuzziness that I (and many others apparently) really liked or became accustomed to. So I decided to release the "older" version together with the expanded version. The now "Original 2014 Edit" is not remastered, but is basically the same version that was published on Soundcloud (with just a touch of processing, e.g. to made it a bit louder by using Ozone 11's Maximizer). The original 2014-version and the new, expanded version complement each other perfectly.

These two tracks together make for slightly over 30 minutes of ambient space music made by Tonal Assembly.
